HeliTie Wall Ties

HeliTie Wall Ties

HeliTie Wall Ties are manufactured from Grade 304 Cu corrosion resistant stainless steel and are helical along the whole of

their length with no, one or two points.  They are available in diameters of 8mm and in lengths between 180mm and 300mm.

Grade 316 is also available and they are supplied in boxes of 100.

HeliTie Wall Ties are used in new build and remedial applications to bond the two leafs of brickwork together.

Like HeliTie Roof Fixings, HeliTie Wall Ties provide a competitive cost effective solution combined with high performance.

This is due to their shape, the variety of diameters and lengths available and their speed and ease of installation.

6mm HeliTie 1 Point being driven directly into blockwork using a Hand Support Tool

Ideal for mortar beds that do not course.  The example above shows 6mm HeliTie 1 Point being driven directly into blockwork using a Hand Support Tool.  HeliTies are equally effective for tying into timber frame or timber stud construction.

8mm HeliTie 1 Point being driven directly into brickwork using a Power Support Tool

There are instances where existing wall ties have failed due to corrosion or where there is poor density.  The usual evidence is horizontal cracking in the brickwork.  This example shows an 8mm HeliTie 1 Point being driven directly into brickwork using a Power Support Tool 3 (PST3).  HeliTies are equally effective in blockwork.

Features Benefits
  • Strong no-bend 8mm helical stainless steel HeliTie.
  • Grade 304 corrosion resistant stainless steel (Grade 316 also available).
  • Simple, one piece design.
  • Multi-drip along full length of tie.
  • HeliTie Wall Ties eliminate the need for grouts, resin or mechanical devices in normal substrates.
  • HeliTies can be inserted into loose substrates with the aid of resin or grout, eg as sock ties into Hollow Blocks(pots).
  • Tested and proven technology.
  • Perfect pitch engineering so that excellent pull-out test figures are attained.
  • Recommended by leading block and insulation manufacturers.
  • Meets requirements of NHBC.
  • HeliTies to DD140 Type 2.
  • Latest Certification based on the DIN NORM 1053 from the DIBT (Deutsches Institut fur Bautechnik) [Euro Code].
  • Resistant to the passage of sound Part E.
  • Cost effective.
  • Ideal for thin-joint blockwork.
  • Extremely quick and easy to install.
  • Can be used in bricks, blocks (including hollow blocks), aircrete, concrete, hard mortar and timber.
  • Can be installed close to the edge of masonry or timber.
  • No need to pre-drill in autoclaved blocks.
  • Does not impair thermal properties of insulation, simply hammer in the HeliTie through the insulation into the block.
  • Minimal disfigurement to structure.
  • Restrains brickwork whilst allowing the natural movement of the construction.
  • Ideal where the joints of the inner and outer leaves of masonry do not course.
  • Pull out testing of HeliTies can easily be carried out on site after installation to ensure Structural Engineer's satisfaction.
  • Hand and high quality power support tools available to speed installation - HST ~ PST 3.
  • HeliTies offer an adaptable solution combined with high performance.

What Size HeliTie do I need?

New Build

Allow min 70mm embedment into inner leaf  +  Cavity Width  +  Allow min 70mm embedment into outer leaf  =   Length of HeliTie required.

Example   70mm  + 100mm   +  70mm   =  240mm long.

Remedial

Allow minimum 70mm embedment into inner leaf  +  Cavity Width  +  Allow min 100mm embedment into outer leaf  =  Length of HeliTie required.

 Example    70mm +  50mm  + 100mm   =  220mm long.
